Fuel for ThoughtOn a bright, sunny day, the sun shines approximately 1,000 watts of energy per square meter of the planet's surface, and if we could collect all of that energy we could easily power our homes and offices. The sun does not "burn" like wood burns. Instead the sun is a gigantic nuclear reactor. The sun has "burned" for more than 4.5 billion years and will continue to do so for several billion more. High-Performance BuildingsHigh-performance design strategies produce energy efficient building solutions to help save on monthly utilities and building maintenance. This is important considering our depleting resources and dependence on fossil fuels. Building orientation, site planning, daylighting, alternative systems and equipment, when planned properly, produce outstanding results. We endevour to apply these principles into every project because it is simply good design. Mr. Latuszek's experience includes training in sustainable "high-performance" building design and construction techniques. While working on the National Marine Sanctuary project in Alpena, MI, for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Tad successfully met the challenge of the LEED 2.0 Professional Accreditation exam and is certified by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) as a LEED accredited professional. The NOAA project has been submitted for review by the USGBC for consideration of certification as a LEED building. The entire project team awaits these results. |
